Within the music industry, Jim McGorman is known as a ‘triple threat’ – a prolific, multitalented and versatile singer/songwriter and record producer. A diverse multi-instrumentalist, based in Los Angeles, and armed with a prestigious degree from the Berklee College of Music, McGorman has played piano, guitar, bass and drums for a host of top charting artists and has worked with the who’s who in music. Jim has served as the musical director for Weezer, Michelle Branch and Paul Stanley of KISS, performed with Cher, Poison and INXS and has written songs with Shakira, David Lee Roth and Aaron Nevile. Furthermore, Jim can be found the studio, producing artists Adam Rader, Bek Phillips, Ryan Lutz and Kropp Circle, as well as working on new projects with Michelle Branch, Marissa Shipp and Spree Wilson. In 2010, McGorman played guitar for Shakira during the World Cup in South Africa and appeared with Avril Lavigne at the Vancouver Olympics Closing Ceremony. Currently, Jim McGorman can be found globetrotting as Avril Lavigne’s gunslinger guitar player with dates in 4 continents in 5 weeks!

What is the most creative, spiritual or emotional place in Los Angeles?
Though it exceeds the boundaries of “the valley”, the beach can certainly be Zen. If we are sticking to the valley, Lake Balboa or a hike up Fryman Canyon.

We rarely get a breeze in the valley, but when we do, the sound is pretty great.

What is your favorite smell or taste in Los Angeles?
Carney’s in Studio City. The boards outside smell like the Jersey Shore (not the show - South Jersey). Carney's Cheeseburger and Mulberry Street Pizza in Encino.
